Winterville Station

Winterville Station is a relatively new neighborhood in the municipality of Winterville, GA, though is still a part of Athens Clarke County. The area is just east and north of Athens, considered part of East Athens.

The area has grown increasingly popular in recent years given its affordability and proximity to downtown Athens and UGA. Still, there’s much to love in the area. Winterville has its own school in Winterville Elementary, as well as other local gems including Little City Diner and Off the Vine Produce.

When first built, homes were selling in the $200k range, though now given increased demand we’re seeing mid $300s and in some cases homes selling in the $400s. Most homes generally fall within the $300k range, with cost per square foot ranging from $120 up to $165, depending on location and condition.

Many of the houses have a Craftsmen-meets-cottage look, featuring Hardieplank, front porches, large yards, and bigger homes than other area neighborhoods. Some spoiled Athens residents consider the neighborhood “far out,” though that belies the neighborhood’s popularity as being only a 10-minute drive from downtown Athens and all its amenities.
