Considered part of West Athens, the McNutt’s Creek neighborhood in Athens, GA is located south of downtown and just off Timothy Road near the inside edge of the 316 Loop. While still in Athens Clarke County, it is near the Oconee County line, making it convenient to Athens Academy, Westminster Academy, and downtown Watkinsville.
McNutt’s Creek is also close to nearby dining, retail, groceries and other amenities at Alps Rd’s Beechwood Shopping Center. The area includes a large Kroeger and a movie theater. The neighborhood is also only a few minutes from the family-friendly State Botanical Garden of Georgia and the popular Bear Hollow Zoo.
At one point considered farther out, the secret’s out on McNutt’s Creek; the neighborhood has increased in popularity given its easy access to so much that Athens and Oconee have to offer.
The neighborhood has a mix of architecture showcasing styles and trends over the years, with some homes built in the 2000’s and others in the 1990’s. The varying timeline means some homes are more modern with brick accents and Hardieplank while others have red brick Georgian accents or other architectural styles reflective of their decade.
Most homes in McNutt’s Creek are in the $400k range, with prices staying stable despite current rising interest rates. Given that the neighborhood has quality, well-located homes that aren’t too cheap but also not too expensive, it’s considered a “Goldilocks” neighborhood for prospective buyers. The McNutt’s Creek community even boasts its own pool and tennis court.
