Overview

Five Points is one of Athens more popular areas for many reasons. Located right next to UGA’s South Campus, people living in 5 Points can walk to UGA sporting events like football and baseball games along with many popular neighborhood bars and restaurants. Most of this area was developed in the 1930s to 50s giving the streets a feel of older American neighborhoods featuring brick homes, sidewalks, and mature landscapes.

Area Hot Spots

The 5 Points area is popular for local restaurants and bars like The Pine Bar, Marker 7 Coastal Grille, The Expat, The Royal Peasant, Fully Loaded Pizza, and Local 706. Shopping is also very convenient with many locally owned options like Appointments at Five, Condor Chocolates, Ideal Bakery, Jittery Joes, and several other small businesses. Earth Fare is a popular neighborhood grocery with options to dine in as well. Lastly, you can not mention 5 Points without thinking of the two local drug stores. Hodgson’s Place will serve up ice cream cones to your kiddos, and Add Drug has a very popular lunch counter where they make burgers, fries, and some of the best milk shakes around.

Schools and Neighborhoods

Almost all the 5 Points area is zoned for Barrow Elementary School. The area features a few primary neighborhoods. Memorial Park, University Drive, Bobbin Mill, and Glenwood. Values in this area tend to be higher per square foot due to the central location and convenience.
