Alex’s Athens bloodline dates back to the early 1800’s through his Lyndon line, and the 1920’s when his Great-great-grandfather moved to Athens to operate the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. On his mother’s side, the Hammond and Garrett ancestors are long planted families of Oconee County. Alex has attended Athens Academy, Clarke Central, and UGA. “I was in Athens long before REM and Herschel Walker”. ALEX KNOWS ATHENS.

Alex’s business background has always been about making deals. His path includes small business Merger and Acquisitions, Mobile Communications Entrepreneur, National Consumer Automotive Buying Start-Up Founder, and tech Interim CEO. In real estate, Alex partnered and managed the design, construction and selling/leasing of an Eco-Friendly Condominium complex, as well operated apartment & office space.

A proven community leader, Alex highlights include Head Coach of the Clarke Central JV Girls Soccer Team and sits on the Clarke County Mentor Board. Historic preservation is one of his passions and he has served as Chair of the Athens-Clarke County Historic Preservation Commission for the ACC Government, and Chaired the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation Events Committee for three years quadrupling funds raised through events. The ACHF awarded Alex with the President’s Award for his part in saving the historic David C. Barrow Elementary School in Five Points. He was also inducted into the Sigma Pi Kappa National Historic Preservation Honor Society. Alex currently sits on the Clarke County School District eSPLOST Community Oversight Committee, which oversees $130,000,000 in funds for school construction. Mayor Heidi Davidson appoints Alex to the ACC Public Art Task Force, which crafted the ordinance to create the ACC Cultural Affairs Commission & the Public Art Ordinance. In 2018 Alex Chaired the successful campaign to elect a Superior Court Judge. The community is important to Alex and he will continue to serve Athens when he is not serving his clients and spending time with his wife, Eleanor, and two daughters.
